It’s All in Your Attitude

“We are having a dandy time. It rained all day yesterday and the night before we had an awful storm.” “Earl and Ma” Postmarked June 21, 1913
Don’t you love their attitude? It “rained all day yesterday and the night before we had an awful storm”, but yet they had a “dandy” time.
I am not sure I would have that attitude if I was vacationing and had bad weather. I would probably be bemoaning the fact that I lost some of my precious vacation time to rain. But, Earl and Ma had the right idea. They were going to have a dandy time no matter what the weather.
The picture on the postcard is one of those generic ones. It says the place is “White Lake, Mich.” The postmark is very faint. I can make out the date but not the town it was mailed from. There are many, many White Lake’s in Michigan, so I am not sure where Earl and Ma were vacationing, but I know they had a great time, and that is enough for me.
After reading this, I decided I am going to try to be a little more like Earl and Ma and not let circumstances that I have no control over dictate my mood. I just hope I remember that when the snow flies this winter.
