maplelakeThe description on the card: A favorite lake for fishing, swimming and water sports. Paw Paw, easily reached by Michigan’s toll-free super highways, has a fine variety of shopping conveniences and activities for visitors and residents.

“Hi Sister, We are enjoying our time in Paw Paw, the people are friendly, the weather is warm, the fish are biting.  Clare took us out for a sunset boat ride last night, it was beautiful. We will head home on Tuesday. I am still a bit concerned about my upcoming hospital visit. Love Denny”

Maple Lake is located along side the village of Paw Paw. This 170 acre lake is formed as the backwaters of the Paw Paw dam on the Paw Paw River. As with many manmade lakes, the water is rather shallow with the deeper end of about 15 feet near the dam.

Maple Lake is fairly well developed with homes and cottages. One interesting point about the lake is that it has an island which is assessable by boat. I like lakes that have islands. An island seems to give a lake a little more character and distinctiveness.
