Dighton Michigan, Whats the Big Deal?

dighton MichiganYou will not even find a “Welcome to Dighton” sign on the edge of town. In fact, if you are not careful you may not even recognize it is a Michigan town. Much of the original town is long gone except for a store known as The Dighton Store.

You can find Dighton in Sherman Township in northern Osceola county on 130th Avenue, 1/2 mile south of 20 Mile Road.

What is so unique about Dighton? Dighton is considered to be the highest elevation in southern Michigan, which provides some beautiful, sweeping views of the surrounding area. This fall, be sure to check out the view on 20 Mile Road, just before it turns south. It will take your breath away!

hi my friend told me about a train derailment that happened way back when and supposedly you can see the smoke stack still to this day. is that a true story? i live in the old snowden farm on 19 mile rd and its is supposed to be somewhere near here. i know at one time there was train tracks that ran by the lake behind my house and it derailed somewhere near it in a swamp. and also i was wondering where i could find a photo of my farm of when it was a working farm and it had the silo and wind mill still.

thanks for any help you can give me on either of my questions.

Mom dad lived in the house on the top of the hill…the mobile home in front is what my grandma moved to when she was older…I use to go up and play house with my sister and cousins. New Bill Davis etc. My cousins still live there. Always had fun at grandmas there.
