East Grand Rapids is the former home of Gerald Ford, the 38th president of the United States. East Grand Rapids is also home to Reeds Lake, a beautiful 265 acre Michigan lake with reported depths up to forty feet. This built up lake is home to many of West Michigan’s prominent citizens. The shores are lined with waterfront homes of doctors, lawyers, business owners.
On nice summer days, you see many walkers, joggers, babies in strollers and dogs on leashes enjoying the 4 mile walk around the lake.
On the west side of the lake you will find a wonderful park. John Collins Park is very poplar with it’s winding lakefront path, benches, fishing docks and a public boat launch. Every summer in mid-June the park is home to the Clothesline Art Festival, a juried art show with over 130 fine artists from all over the country.
The newly expanded deck at Rose’s Restaurant on Reeds Lake provides diners with an opportunity to breath in the fresh lake air and watch the sailboats while enjoying Rose’s delicious food. Rose’s is on the site of the former Romana Park, a popular amusement park closed in the early 1900’s.
Reeds Lake is one of the reasons, so many people call Michigan home.
